BMW Motorrad’s worldwide customer-delivery series rose from 2018 through 2022, despite a decline in 2020. BMW Group’s chart reports deliveries in thousands; the values below are expressed as motorcycles.

Year Worldwide BMW Motorrad deliveries Measurement
2018 165,600 Customer deliveries
2019 175,200 Customer deliveries
2020 169,300 Customer deliveries
2021 194,300 Customer deliveries
2022 202,895 Customer deliveries; 4.4% year-over-year increase

Source: BMW Group Report 2022. BMW’s 2022 deliveries were 37,295 units higher than in 2018, a difference calculated from the reported chart values rather than a reported growth rate.

BMW Motorrad reported 210,408 worldwide deliveries in 2024, describing the result as a company record. BMW Group’s segment reporting gives 210,385 deliveries for 2024, and says this was 0.6% above 2023; the small difference is preserved because the two official BMW sources report slightly different totals.

These figures refer to customer deliveries or handovers. They are not registrations or production, and BMW notes that retail deliveries do not correlate directly with revenue recognized in the same period.

BMW Motorrad Statistics by Region and Country

Europe was BMW Motorrad’s largest reported region in both the 2022 and 2024 data. In 2022, Europe delivered 110,788 motorcycles, compared with 111,126 in 2021, a 0.3% decrease.

Region or country 2022 deliveries 2024 deliveries Reported comparison
Europe 110,788 118,727 Europe total
Germany 24,129 26,177 Germany deliveries
France 21,223 20,693 France deliveries
Italy 15,668 16,617 Italy deliveries
Spain 12,506 13,009 Spain deliveries
United States 17,690 17,272 U.S. deliveries
Brazil 13,051 15,267 Brazil deliveries
China 15,404 13,872 China deliveries
India — 8,301 2024 only

The 2022 country comparisons show different market directions: Germany’s deliveries fell 7.1% from 25,972 in 2021, France’s increased 6.7%, Italy’s decreased 2.3%, and China’s increased 7.7% from 14,309. The United States and Brazil are customer-delivery figures, not total motorcycle-market registrations.

The Americas as a region received 45,775 BMW motorcycles in 2022, up 14.4% from 40,010 in 2021. BMW’s 2024 press release separately reported 17,272 U.S. deliveries and 15,267 Brazilian deliveries.

BMW’s 2024 press-release geography also identifies 11,411 motorcycles from Central Europe, using BMW’s own Central Europe grouping. Region definitions therefore should not be assumed to match national registration datasets or another publisher’s regional boundaries.

BMW Motorcycle Sales Mix and Geographic Concentration

BMW’s 2022 market-share chart describes each country’s share of BMW Motorrad sales, not that country’s share of the entire motorcycle market. The largest named country share was Germany at 11.9%, while the residual “all other markets” category represented 41.0%.

Market Share of BMW Motorrad sales in 2022
Germany 11.9%
France 10.5%
United States 8.7%
Italy 7.7%
China 7.6%
Brazil 6.4%
Spain 6.2%
All other markets 41.0%

The distribution shows a broad international customer base rather than dependence on one country. Germany and France were the two largest named markets in the 2022 sales mix, while the 41.0% residual category indicates that many additional markets contribute to BMW Motorrad volume.

Because these are shares of BMW Motorrad sales, they should not be interpreted as national market share. A market-share claim about all motorcycle brands would require a different denominator and source.

BMW Motorrad Financial Performance Statistics

BMW Group’s Motorcycles segment reported €3,220 million in 2024 revenue, compared with €3,214 million in 2023. The same unaudited supplementary information reports €2,721 million of 2024 cost of sales and €2,656 million in 2023.

Motorcycles segment measure 2023 2024
Revenue €3,214 million €3,220 million
Cost of sales €2,656 million €2,721 million
Gross profit €558 million €499 million

Profit before tax €258 million €198 million
Net profit — €138 million

Source: Income Statement | BMW Group Report 2024. The page labels these segment figures as unaudited supplementary information.

Gross profit was €499 million in 2024, compared with €558 million in 2023. Profit before tax was €198 million in 2024 versus €258 million in 2023, while 2024 selling and administrative expenses were €296 million and net profit was €138 million.

Revenue and delivery totals measure different parts of the business. Deliveries are customer handovers, whereas segment revenue is an accounting measure for the Motorcycles segment, so the two should not be combined as if they were the same observation.

BMW Motorcycle Model and Segment Sales

BMW’s 2024 model data shows a mix led by the renewed F-series and the company’s large adventure-touring family. “Over” figures are lower-bound statements, not exact totals.

Model or segment 2024 worldwide sales
Renewed F-series 40,890
BMW four-cylinder models 27,147
G 310 GS, G 310 R and G 310 RR 22,339
S 1000 RR 11,610
R 1300 GS, R 1250 GS Adventure and R 1250 GS More than 68,000
Urban Mobility models More than 20,000

The renewed F-series includes the F 800 GS, F 900 GS, F 900 GS Adventure, F 900 R and F 900 XR. BMW’s four-cylinder grouping includes the three M models, while the sub-500cc grouping covers the G 310 GS, G 310 R and G 310 RR.

More than 68,000 customers worldwide chose the R 1300 GS, R 1250 GS Adventure and R 1250 GS in 2024. BMW also reported more than 20,000 Urban Mobility motorcycles and scooters, including the C 400 GT, C 400 X, CE 04 and CE 02.

These groupings use BMW’s own model definitions and should not be treated as mutually exclusive market segments outside BMW’s reporting framework. The “more than” wording means the exact totals were not disclosed.

BMW Motorcycle Electrification and Product-Launch Statistics

BMW Motorrad launched the CE 04 electric scooter in March 2022. The launch count records a product event and does not measure the number of units sold.

During 2022, BMW Motorrad presented one new model and four model revisions. Three updates were in the Touring segment—the K 1600 GT, K 1600 GTL and K 1600 B—and two Sports-segment revisions, the S 1000 RR and M 1000 RR, were announced for 2023 launches.

BMW’s 2024 Urban Mobility sales included two fully electric models, the CE 04 and CE 02. BMW also introduced the CE 02 eParkourer as another electric vehicle in its 2024 product-portfolio renewal.

The available figures establish model presence and launch activity, but they do not disclose separate electric-unit sales. Consequently, the electric-model count should be read as portfolio coverage, not as an electrification adoption rate.
