BMW Production Statistics: Global Output and Trends
BMW Group automobile production rose sharply in 2023 before declining in 2024. The figures cover vehicles manufactured across the worldwide BMW Group production network and include BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce automobiles.
| Period | Automobile production | Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2022 | 2,382,305 | — |
| 2023 | 2,661,922 | +11.7% |

BMW reported 148,092 fewer automobiles in 2024 than in 2023, a simple difference between its published totals. Partner plants produced 14,676 automobiles in 2024, down 29.5% from 20,808 in 2023.
The 2023 production increase was broader than the 2024 decline: BMW Group output climbed from 2,382,305 automobiles in 2022 to 2,661,922 in 2023. The two-year figures should be read as reported annual production, not as a measure of sales or registrations.
BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce Production Data
BMW brand vehicles accounted for most Group automobile production in both years, while MINI and Rolls-Royce remained separate reported populations.
| Brand | 2023 production | 2024 production | 2024 change |
|---|---|---|---|
| BMW | 2,340,547 | 2,229,009 | −4.8% |
| MINI | 315,196 | 278,897 | −11.5% |
| Rolls-Royce Motor Cars | 6,179 | 5,924 | −4.1% |

BMW brand production was 2,340,547 vehicles in 2023, up 12.0% from 2,089,801 in 2022. MINI production rose 10.1% in 2023 to 315,196 vehicles from 286,265 in 2022, while Rolls-Royce production declined 1.0% to 6,179 cars from 6,239.
Delivery statistics are different measures. BMW reported 2,253,835 BMW brand deliveries, 295,474 MINI deliveries and 6,032 Rolls-Royce deliveries worldwide in 2023; the BMW press release described the figures as deliveries, and the 2023 brand figures were provisional at the press-release date.

Electrified BMW Production Statistics and BEV Output
BMW defines electrified production as battery-electric vehicles plus plug-in hybrids. That definition is broader than all-electric production and should not be confused with the separately reported delivery figures.
| Measure | 2023 | 2024 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Electrified production | 613,640 | 650,324 | +6.0% |
| All-electric production | 415,692 | 481,794 | +15.9% |

In 2024, electrified vehicles represented about 25.9% of the 2,513,830 automobiles produced by BMW Group, while all-electric vehicles represented about 19.2%. These are rounded ratios calculated from BMW’s reported production totals, and the electrified category includes plug-in hybrids.
BMW’s 2023 delivery data shows a separate market outcome: Group electrified deliveries were 566,486, up 30.6% year over year, and Group BEV deliveries were 376,183, up 74.4%. BMW brand BEV deliveries reached 330,596, up 92.2%, while MINI fully-electric deliveries reached 45,261, up 3.5%; fully-electric vehicles made up 15.3% of MINI deliveries in 2023.

BMW Production by Plant and Country
BMW’s 2024 plant data shows a geographically distributed network. The largest listed outputs came from Spartanburg, Regensburg, Dadong, Dingolfing, Tiexi and Leipzig.
| Plant and country | 2024 vehicles | Change from 2023 |
|---|---|---|
| Spartanburg, United States | 396,117 | −3.6% |
| Regensburg, Germany | 342,521 | +43.7% |
| Dadong, China | 343,973 | −18.2% |

Other 2024 plant figures were Oxford in the United Kingdom at 110,939 vehicles, San Luis Potosí in Mexico at 95,236, Rosslyn in South Africa at 55,516, Chennai in India at 14,568, Araquari in Brazil at 11,472 and Rayong in Thailand at 8,666.
Goodwood in the United Kingdom produced 5,924 Rolls-Royce automobiles. Zhangjiagang–Spotlight in China produced 67,561 vehicles, compared with 2,871 in 2023; BMW reported the resulting 2,253.2% increase, which reflects the low 2023 base.
Partner-plant output included 7,515 vehicles at Born–VDL Nedcar in the Netherlands and 10,463 at Graz–Magna Steyr in Austria. Debrecen in Hungary recorded 92 vehicles in 2024 as pre-series production before the plant’s 2025 opening, so it is not comparable with full-year series plants.

BMW Motorrad Production and Local-Market Manufacturing
BMW Motorrad production is reported separately from BMW Group automobile output. Worldwide motorcycle production reached 221,988 units in 2023, up 2.8% from 215,932 in 2022, then fell 2.8% to 215,727 in 2024.

BMW Motorrad delivered 209,257 motorcycles and scooters worldwide in 2023, up 3.1% year over year. That is a delivery measure rather than a production total.
Production Network 2 comprised seven locations across Asia, North Africa and South America in BMW’s 2024 description. Three were BMW-owned plants in Brazil, India and Thailand, while four operated with local partners in Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Egypt; the network produced roughly 50,000 vehicles plus BMW motorcycles in 2023, an estimate whose combined figure does not separate automobiles from motorcycles.

BMW Factory Throughput and Production-Network Capacity
Regensburg was BMW Group’s highest-volume European vehicle plant in 2024, producing 342,521 cars. Its output increased by more than 100,000 vehicles from 238,301 in 2023; the exact difference between the reported figures is 104,220.
BMW reported a Regensburg assembly-line cadence of one new vehicle every 57 seconds and more than 1,400 vehicles per day. These are reported operating descriptions, not guaranteed annual averages.
More than one-third of Regensburg vehicles built in 2024 were electrified, meaning plug-in hybrid or fully electric. The plant reached a milestone of 100,000 fully-electric vehicles during 2024 by December, which is not necessarily the final calendar-year BEV total, and more than 1,400 BMW X1 and BMW X2 models were coming off the line each workday in December 2024.
BMW’s Spartanburg plant produced just under 400,000 BMW X models in 2024. Almost 50% of Spartanburg’s 2024 production was sold in the United States, according to BMW’s production-network disclosure; both expressions are approximate, and the comparison is not a plant-origin share of all U.S. BMW sales.

In China, BMW Brilliance Automotive reported 695,579 vehicles produced and 715,159 vehicles sold in 2024. BMW also said almost 90% of vehicles produced locally in China were sold there; the statement is approximate, and production and sales are not identical populations because inventory movements and period matching are not detailed.
