Global BMW Sales Statistics and Brand Scale

BMW Group delivery statistics combine the BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce automobile brands. BMW’s reporting uses deliveries or sales to customers as its main vehicle-volume measure; that is not identical to registrations or wholesale shipments.

Period Measure Worldwide volume Change
2022 BMW Group 2,399,636 vehicles —
2022 BMW brand 2,100,689 vehicles -5.1% vs. 2021
2023 BMW brand 2,252,793 vehicles +7.2% vs. 2022
2024 BMW Group 2,450,804 vehicles -4.0% vs. 2023

The brand-level series moved from a 2022 decline to growth in 2023, while the group’s 2024 total was provisional in the cited release. The first-half 2025 figure covers January 1 through June 30, 2025; Q2 covers April through June 2025.

In Q2 2025, BMW Group delivered 621,477 vehicles worldwide, up 0.4% from Q2 2024. BMW brand deliveries in H1 2025 were 1,070,960, down 2.3% from H1 2024, showing why group and brand measures should not be treated as interchangeable.

The 2022 largest-market chart assigned 32.3% of BMW Group sales to China, 15.1% to the United States, 10.6% to Germany and 6.6% to the United Kingdom. These percentages describe BMW Group sales by market, not each country’s entire vehicle market.

The 2023 report rounded regional table values to thousands: Europe represented 943,000 BMW Group deliveries versus 878,500 in 2022, the United States represented 397,300 versus 363,500, and China represented 826,300 versus 793,500. In H1 2025, Europe grew 8.2% and the Americas grew 3.4% versus H1 2024; in Q2 2025, Europe grew 10.2%.

BMW Electric Vehicle Sales Statistics and Electrification Mix

BMW’s electric vehicle statistics separate BEVs from PHEVs. BEV means battery-electric vehicle, PHEV means plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, and “electrified” means BEV plus PHEV.

The 2024 brand breakdown included 368,523 BMW brand BEVs, up 11.6%, and 56,181 MINI BEVs, up 24.3%. Rolls-Royce BEV deliveries were 1,890, up 479.6%; the high percentage reflects a small base.

BMW Model-Series Sales Statistics

The 2022 BMW model-series figures combine adjacent series in the reporting presentation, so the groupings should not be read as standalone sales for each individual nameplate.

Combined model grouping 2022 deliveries Share or change
3 Series/4 Series 478,932 22.8% of BMW deliveries
X3/X4 400,898 19.1% of BMW deliveries
5 Series/6 Series 315,590 15.0% of BMW deliveries

X1/X2 242,189 -22.4% vs. 2021
1 Series/2 Series 205,971 -22.6% vs. 2021
BMW iX 39,130 +1,383.3% vs. 2021

Source: BMW Group Report 2022 — Combined Management Report. The iX percentage reflects a low 2021 base, and the report combines the paired series shown above.

The largest reported grouping was 3 Series/4 Series at 478,932 deliveries, followed by X3/X4 at 400,898. The X5/X6 grouping was the only listed conventional pairing with both a reported positive year-over-year change and a share figure, while the iX recorded a sharp percentage increase from a low base.

The wider brand portfolio had mixed results in 2024 and H1 2025. MINI and Rolls-Royce are reported separately from the core BMW brand, while BMW M figures cover performance and high-performance vehicles or BMW M GmbH depending on the reporting period.

  • In 2022, MINI delivered 292,922 vehicles worldwide, down 3.1% from 2021, while Rolls-Royce delivered 6,021, up 7.8%.

These figures are not a single like-for-like brand series: BMW M GmbH’s 2024 measure and the H1 2025 BMW M measure use the labels and categories supplied in their respective reports. That distinction matters when comparing specialty performance activity with total automobile deliveries.

BMW Financing and Motorcycle Delivery Indicators

BMW sales analysis can also include adjacent indicators, but finance contracts and portfolios are not vehicle deliveries. BMW Motorrad is a separate motorcycle and scooter business rather than part of the automobile delivery totals.
